Bob Cole

Bob grew up in Cerro Gordo County, near Swaledale. After High School, he attended Mason City Community College and Iowa State University. He enlisted in the Naval Reserve and spent two West PACs (tours) on the Air Craft Carrier USS CONSTELLATION, of the cost of Viet Nam. Upon completion of his service, he returned to Iowa State University where he received three degrees. He worked for Iowa State University Extension as a County Extension Director, Extension Market News Editor, Area Community Development Specialist, and as an Area Community and Economic Development Specialist.
His involvement in energy began in the 1970s, as a presenter and planner of the Extension public police series “Land, Water and Energy in the 20 th Century”. He was also a member of the ISU Extension Housing Task Force, looking at making home more energy efficient through weatherization, better construction, solar energy, geothermal and other clean energy options. Later, he was a founder and Board member of the Midwest Grain Producers ethanol plant. He also was a board member of the BioVillage project to develop a clean energy village. These experiences have provided Bob with some insights and experiences with clean energy alternatives.

I am the board secretary of the Cerro Gordo Clean Energy District. My involvement with environmental issues blossomed on the steering committee for the 1989 Common Ground Conference at NIACC with Apollo 9 astronaut Rusty Schweikert as keynote speaker. CGCED has given me a way to be more actively involved again. I have a degrees from Iowa State and the University of Chicago and have had a private counseling practice in Mason City since 1983.

Louise Cragg

Secretary

Louise Cragg

I am a retired physician. My husband and I have lived in Mason City since 2002. We have two children, both in college. One of my favorite places in North Iowa is the Lime Creek Nature Center in the wintertime. I have become increasingly concerned about our changing climate and its effect on our world in recent years. When I retired I wanted to use my time and energy to learn more about what we can do to address climate change both as individuals and as a community, leading to my involvement in the founding of the Cerro Gordo Clean Energy District.

He is originally from Ohio, but now calls Mason City home, along with his wife and 2 dogs. His career in computers and design have made him a welcome addition as one of the founding members of the Cerro Gordo Energy District. He tries to bring a logical and practical perspective to all the work being done by the group, and hopes to make everything he touches a little better.
